About Nichole ...

Nichole Trushell is a biologist.  Her specialty is botany.  Her greatest interests are plants, insects, birds and in general, the natural history of the southwestern United States.

The southwest has always been her home, it is the place of their heart.  Nichole’s mother Julie was a professional artist: a painter, a wood and steel sculptor.  Julie’s paintings and sculptures were most often abstract.  She was gifted in design, in color, and in creating art with a variety of media.  This was the world that Nichole grew up within.

After an adult lifetime working as a professional biologist and environmental educator, art caught up with Nichole.  She finds particular affinity with creating three-dimensional forms that reflect the natural world about which she is so deeply passionate.  In the past decade Nichole has worked to develop her skill as a welder and steel sculptor — translating the intricate and beautiful natural world into sculptures that can draw attention to form and beauty, that bring joy to the beholder, and that are always inspired by the artistic elegance she finds in nature.
